Amazon User Reviews Of The Samsung LN46B750

We rounded up all of the amazon user reviews and placed them on one page for you. Reviews are ordered by the best rated first and worst rated last.

Kenneth K. Lui rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - one of the best TV ever - all the features worked as expected. The only minor issue I had with this TV is the glossy finish on the screen which creates glare while watching TV during daytime. If I swivel the TV a few degrees, it helps with the glare coming from the window.
Muruganantham K. Mani rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Coolest TV in the Market - I have been searching a best HDTV in the market. I have read a lot of reviews on different sites and personal visits to best buy stores to have a look at it.

When I was about to buy LN46A750, I have got this model and I was little scared to buy this as it just entered the market. As I have got the $300 off coupon and the trust that I had in Samsung LCD TV, made me to go for this excellent TV.

My friend has a XBR but after seeing this LCD TV, I don't really like XBR picture quality which once I was thinking to buy. Overall, this is the best purchase that I have ever made on TV.

I had comcast which is too poor in HD channels. So I have switched to DirecTV and it is the best combination that I could get for HD channels.

Pros:

- Crisp pictures
- Internet ready
- Lot of choice to customize based on personal need
- Media Net
- Excellent support for PC to TV
- and a lot more

Cons:

- Lesser Price :))

Highly recommended! Planning to buy one for my brother :) Happy viewing!!!
BIG MIKE rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - 46B750 - this tv really is awesome! i love the picture and all the adjustment capability.i wish i would have bought the 52 in. but it was a little too much.all in all i`m pleased with my purchase and my new settings.
V P rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Crisp Picture - Clear, sharp picture and the price was excellent due to a $300 discount. I researched HDTV's for about 1 year before going to this one. There are some higher pixel TV's out there but only the very discerning eye will see the difference. They are also $1,000 or more higher in cost and I could not justify that. You will not be disappointed.
C. Leonard rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Couldn't have been easier! - The box arrived right on schedule and I was able to get it out of the box and set up by myself. I'm not a techie, either. I just moved and when the cable guy came to connect everything up he was raving about the Samsung LCDs as well and how easy they are to set up on his end. It was just plug and play. I haven't set up any other peripherals to it or tried it with the computer - just straight TV watching. The price was great too. I compared while I was out furniture shopping and felt very proud of myself that I got such a great price. I would definitely recommend!
Avid Listener rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung LCD HDTV excellent product - Read reviews of HD tvs, and settled on the Samsung 46" because of apartment size and unit cost of 52" screen.
Product has exceeded my expectations, which were high. (I was previously using a Sony XBR.) The larger screen and pixel density produce a large improvement in the quality of movie-viewing on a television, giving you more of the director's composition for the screen and a greater sense of depth to whatever you're watching.
SSME Bob rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch is Terrific - This TV is a high quality product with many nice features. I'm glad I got this model instead of the less expensive LN46B650 for a number of reasons. I like the charcoal gray bezel, virtually invisible and the fact that it does NOT have the pointed bottom on the bezel like the LN46B650. It also has the 240 Hz refresh rate as opposed to the 120 Hz for the ... 650 model.

I did not realize before buying it that jitter and/or blur could be so significant. Even with the 240 Hz these can occasionally be mildly annoying. Apparently the 240 Hz does not work with all content. I've read that it is best to turn it off while watching movies. Of course it's at its best while watching any fast action sports.

I love the swivel base. This allows the set to be rotated +/- 20 degrees. I use this feature fairly often to get the biggest, nicest picture possible, although the picture still looks fine at large angles with no noticeable reduction in brightness or quality.

The remote control has buttons that can be set to light up for easy night viewing. But the manual says this will notably reduce the battery life of the provided AAA batteries. To take full advantage of this feature without having to worry about repeated battery replacement, I've ordered Eneloop AAA rechargeable batteries from Amazon. [Eneloop batteries are absolutely terrific rechargeables. I've been using Eneloop AA's in my Canon digital camera for about a year now. Amazon sells them. There are very good reviews from Amazon customers that provide more testimonials about them.]

I also like the easy ability to plug-in a flash drive in one of the USB ports on the right edge of the set. This allows me to show not only .JPG photos, but also videos I've taken with my above mentioned Canon camera.

The `Gallery' feature has some potential, but right now the provided content is limited, and provides only an initial gee-whiz effect.

Similarly, I've not tried to hook-up my PC via a wire, or wirelessly. Other reviewers have noted the limited value of these hookups, so I won't repeat them here.

The speakers are good, but not great. It is generally possible to improve the sound quality of a program by choosing from the software options: Standard, Movie, Clear Voice, Music, or Custom. The `Custom' choice allows the user to setup a 5 band equalizer to his/her preference. This is a nice touch, given that many people have less than perfect hearing. Better yet, the sound is much improved when hooked-up to a stereo system; the base is hugely better and makes watching movies with quality sound tracks really enjoyable.

The on-screen manual is, for me, terrible. Samsung does NOT include a printed manual. With all the features this TV has, the manual does need to be studied carefully to understand how to use them. Fortunately, Samsung does provide a PDF version of the manual that can be downloaded from their website and then printed-out. Having a printed manual is not only a lot easier to navigate, but also allow one to write in notations for your own specific use.

Samsung's `AnyNet' feature is supposed to be limited for use with only Samsung products. However I hooked-up my Toshiba DVD recorder to the TV and to my pleasant surprise the AnyNet feature works just fine; it allows me to use the Samsung remote to control the DVD recorder (which works pretty-much like a VCR). Another neat feature is that the TV turns on all by itself after I turn on my DVD recorder (the DVD recorder has to begin loading the disc before the TV starts itself up).

The last thing I'll mention is the care required for the screen, or more specifically the anti-glare coating that's on it. Samsung provides next to nothing in writing on how to clean the screen. The TV comes with a small microfiber cloth, but the instruction on the bag the cloth comes in only describes how to clean the bezel. I called Samsung and spoke with `Level 1' tech support about this. He told me that the screen could be cleaned with a lightly dampened, not wet, microfiber cloth. Also, never use anything made out of paper on it; this will surely scratch the anti-glare coating. Stores such as Best Buy sell special cleaners for LCD TV screens. The Samsung tech recommended using `ScreenClean' or equivalent. I believe ScreenClean is a Monster product. I've read the woes of others who have tried to clean their screens. For now, I'm totally avoiding touching it so as to not get any fingerprints on it. When it gets too dusty that it has to be cleaned, I'll then take my best shot.

I've noted some of this TV's short-comings, but overall it is still a terrific TV and so I do rate it 5 stars. I've had this set for about 6 weeks now. Knowing what I now know, if I was in the market for a set of this size I'd buy the same exact Samsung model.
Lawrence A Team rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Good delivery and great Samsung HDTV - I took advantage of Amazon's $400 discount on this LN46B750. Shipping was good but local delivery was to be delayed 1 week due to economy shipping. I picked it up at the airport depot and carton was in perfect condition. Samsung packed the TV wonderfully. I set up the TV easily, adjusted it and all worked perfectly. No problems, no dead pixels, and the images are spectacular. The 1920 x 1080i shows are eye poppers! Bright, consistant brightness, ultra clear picture with no visible blurring or pixelation. Even in bright daytime, the image pops! Plasma has nothing on these new Samsungs! But... I had no idea TV stars had such poor complexions!!!Ha! Sound is a little thin but not an issue. Very satisfied with Samsung and Amazon, indeed.
Barbara Blum rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Outstanding TV - The Samsung TV which we purchased from Amazon meets our needs and beyond. We are totally satifsfied.Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color
C. Ingram rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - I switched and I'm glad - Short story version: Did tons of research, starting last Fall--CNET reviews, talking to younger techier folks, visiting stores. reading reviews by owners, checking out bells and whistles on both less and more expensive t.v.'s--Sony, Sharp and Samsung were the top contenders once I decided on LCD. Actually decided to get the LN46B650. Didn't like the touch of red. Had concern about reflection. Just as I was ready to buy, the LN46B750--touch of charcoal instead of red; matte screen, option for 240hz, great refresh rate. Coupon for $300 from Amazon. Easy to set up. Didn't need to tweak the settings. Great picture, even from angles, great blacks and whites. Crisp picture. Very happy with it, and with Amazon.
H. Long rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung review - this Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV was very easy to set up and the picture and overall quality is excellent.
Raven rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color - I looked around and did so much research that by the time I made my choice the new models came out. I made the leap and have had this TV for a month now and I am very happy with it!
This TV has a pristine clear picture, the best I have seen so far. The sound is average but lets face it when you buy a TV like this chances are you will upgrade to a sweet sound system anyway.
You can tweak this TV every which way too Tuesday, I find it was great right out of the box but being a guy I had to play around with it anyways and if you don't like it you can reset it right back to where it was out of the box with just a click.
Even being a new model this TV made cnet best 5 HDTVs list and the price I paid for at Amazon could not be beat, and trust me I did try to find a better price.
I got this bad boy five days after I placed my order (a few days early) with the free shipping and the drivers set it up in no time and took the box out for me.
With the money I saved I ended up getting a Blu Ray from Amazon as well and I could not be happier.
If you are thinking about it... just wait for a good price on Amazon and do it!
Giant Panda Boy rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Great TV! Excellent picture quality - Great TV, no problems so far.

The gloss black finish does get dirty easily and leaves finger prints.
Kinda wishing I would've got a 52" too, but overall I highly recommend it!
T. MCGEE rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Fire to a Caveman - We absolutely love this TV. When it came in, I was at work. My husband said the delivery service was excellent - stayed around to unpack, set up, and test for power before taking off. He called to tell me it had arrived and he said 'this must have been how the cavemen felt the first time they discovered fire.' I burst out in laughter; but, when I got home and watched it - its true - the difference is revolutionary.
Anthony Della Fave rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Beautiful TV - This tv is awesome. The picture quality is amazing. I chose to buy this over the samsung B650 due mainly to aestetics. I disliked the shape and color of the B650 touch of color red. The rectangular framed, touch of color gray was much more appealing to me.

One issue I've seen was unwatchable video tearing and skipping when viewing video files though the Ethernet media center program ( I don't remember the official name of the samsung built in media software.) other than that, connecting my computer to the tv, over DVI-HDMI wrked like a charm, and the clarity is incredible.
F P Cheap rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung LN46B750 - We are very satisfied with this 46 inch LCD television. The picture is crisp and natural looking and bright enough for a room with windows completely covering two walls. The set is packed with features. Amazon's was the lowest price.

The delivery was picture perfect. We were notified by e-mail of the time. Then we received a phone call from the shipping company to set up the time and another phone call on the day of delivery. Although Amazon had not promised white-glove delivery, that is exactly what happened. The delivery man took the box up the elevator to our condo, unpacked it, unplugged our old set, set up the new set and made sure it worked. At our request, he took our old set for disposal.

I recommend Amazon and this this model TV (so long as LED backlit models have not come down in price) without hesitation.
Otnip rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Awesome Picture - The Samsung LN46B750 replaced our 5-year old 46" Samsung DLP. The new Samsung has an incredibly bright and vivid picture. I opted to go with the LN46B750 over the newer Samsung UN46B6000 LED TV due to "screen uniformity" issues related to the edge-lit LED screen mentioned in user reviews. My purchase was based solely on reviews, great past experience with our older Samsung; I did not go to a store to view the TV picture prior to purchasing it. The quality of the picture is just stunning from 1080p video sources like a Blu-ray disc player. HD channels from our local cable provider are also extremely good.

Our TV cabinet is near a very large window with a semi-transparent window shading which made it hard to view our Samsung DLP TV during daylight. The new Samsung B750 LCD can be viewed under these conditions, although its glossy screen reflects the window more than our older Samsung DLP TV (which has a matt finish screen).

Setup was a breeze. Simply placed the TV on the included stand and installed four screws. The stand permits you to swivel the TV. The TV has a glass-like frame, gloss-black rear, and a glass stand with a glossy-black undercoating. This gives the TV a very contemporary look; though, I personally don't fancy gloss-black piano finishes because you can easily see smudges; but, glossy-black seems to be the current trend among TVs.

The TV was a snap to connect to my BD player and cable set-top box using HDMI cables. For "surround sound" I used the Denon DHT-FS3 soundbar home theater system which fit very nicely in front of the TV. (See my customer shared image.) Note you need to run separate digital audio cables to the Denon because it lacks HDMI connectivity.

Ordering/Delivery: I purchased the Samsung B750 using the $275 off Samsung promotion from Amazon. Shipped free of charge; arrived in about a week after placing order. Delivery personnel called in advance to schedule a delivery time window and then 30 minutes prior to delivery. Box delivered inside our room. Note the shipping box is thin, but about a foot wider than the TV due to packaging styrofoam... my initial reaction seeing the width of the box was that I was sent the wrong TV.

In summary, great LCD TV with an awesome picture.
Leonard L. Wysocki rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Dr. Len - I could not believe how perfect the picture was. It almost seemed 3 dimensional. I'm very happy with this Samsung.
Dr. Len
Gadget Guy rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung Continues to Shine - I have been a Sony TV fan for years but when I began shopping for HDTVs, it was clear that the torch had been passed to Samsung. Go to a Best Buy or other big box store and look at the screens from 50-100 feet away and you will quickly conclude that Samsung's always have the brighest image. Over a year ago I bought a 62" DLP for the "theater room" in the basement, and just a few weeks ago I picked up the LN46B750 to mount over our fireplace in the family room. I am one of those shoppers that analyzes everything available, reads reviews, etc. and when Amazon offered this new 240Hz model at special $300 discount it was a no-brainer. The B750 is great in all respects -- from picture quality to "extras" like being able to connect to some web-based services via widgets (the wireles adapter is NOT provided). My wife, who usually could care less about any electronic purchase, has even praised such features as screen-displayed caller ID and automtic running of photo screen shows. I shopped for several months for this television and have had absolutely no regrets about its features or performance thus far.
Mark Fangue rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Amazing HD TV - After much research both on the internet and in retail stores, the Samsung LN46B750 is absolutely the best TV available. Side by side comparisons with several high ranking brands including Sony leaves no doubt that this is an amazing HDTV.

The transaction with Amazon was easy, the delivery by Pilot was timely, courteous and helpful. Pilot removed my existing Sony and connected all the cables. I did have to purchase an HDMI cable. Since the HD cable box produces 60Hz signals, I felt fine about buying Best Buy's Rocketfish HDMI cable (rated at 120 HZ). The TV is rated at 240 Hz. I will use a different cable when connecting to a Blue Ray player - probably go with Monster's Blu-Ray 1200 cable for the 240 Hz.

Located in North County San Diego and using Time Warner HD cable, the clarity of the HD content is awesome and the non-HD content is still very good.

The stylish Samsung remote control is fine for controlling the TV. However, it is not a universal remote - unless all your connected components are 'Anynet (HDMI-CEC) compatible - none of my other components are. I will probably purchase the Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote.

The TV is located in the corner of my living room that has windows on both adjacent walls. There are no windows exactly opposite the TV. Glare is not a problem and the display is more than bright enough.
V. Aher rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Simply beautiful - Samsung LN46B750 is simply beautiful to watch. Bought it from Amazon. Was delivered on time. The contrast ratio of 150K is great. Picture quality is even better with HD input. It even picked up clear and crisp local DTV and HDTV broadcast with a RCA antenna over the air. No complaints so far.
Gamer rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Crisp, clear, and smooth images. Bright colors and deep blacks. - Pros:
Crisp, clear, and smooth images. Bright colors and deep blacks. Light weight, low power consumption, low heat generation. PC and internet connectivity.

Cons:
Remote is not universal. Judder reduction can cause motion artifacts.

I knew I wanted a Samsung because their sets were clearer and brighter than the other brands. I even met a Sony employee that bought a Samsung so apparently he thinks so, too. I chose the B750 model because of the true 240 Hz, 2 ms response, limited internet, and ultra clear display. This model has some grey on the black frame which is less distracting than the red-trim on the other models. It also has a nice remote (BN59-00851A) as opposed to the wheel-lagging remote found on the other models.

The set is extremely light. I was able to pickup and setup the TV myself. The shipping box is not tamper-proof though, so anyone can open the tabs and replace the TV with bricks. The glass rectangular-base swivel stand is very stable as opposed to the oval-base stand found on the other models. I was at the epicenter of a 4.7 earth quake 1 week after buying the set. It happened while I was watching TV, which barely even wobbled. Everything worked out of the box with no quality control issues. This model even included a 500Mb thumb drive for the e-manual. You can upload music, pics and vids to the TV's built-in 2Gb memory.

Blu-rays and video games are really crisp. You'll have to adjust the display settings, but once adjusted the whites are extremely bright and the blacks are really dark. The 150,000:1 contrast ratio allows me to see images in dark scenes I couldn't see on the DLP set I used to have. I've read from other reviews about flash-lighting or pixilation. I believe these artifacts are broadcasted from the source station (i.e. the CBS symbol looks funny b/c CBS uses lossy-compression or low-rez graphics). None of these artifacts show up with games or Blu-rays.

The channel listing feature is pretty good. It lists programming for each station up to 6 hrs ahead, but you sometimes have to tune to that channel in order to update the information (channel surfing works, too).
The speakers are good, too. There's an adjustable 5-band equalizer. I can actually hear the simulated surround sound effect in my small living room.

AutoMotionPlus is super smooth and gives my old DVD library a fresh new look. The feature can be turned off or adjusted on 10 levels. This feature consists of Blur Reduction which eliminates motion blur to create crisp moving text/images, and Judder Reduction which interpolates images between frames to give super-smooth video. If Judder is set too high, the movie can look like a soap opera. It can also create motion artifacts such as ghosting or gasoline haze.

Feature for feature, the LN46B750 is the best 46" TV you can get at under $2000.
J. Saul rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Spectacular LN46B750 - I bought this TV to replace a Sony WEGA XBR CRT TV. All I can say is WOW! This is the best picture I have ever seen, especially in 1080i high def on Time Warner HD TV. I haven't tried Blu Ray yet, but will in the nest week or so, but DVD was spectacular. I looked at this TV in comparison to not only the Sony Bravia line, but also the Samsung LED line, and the model below, the LN46B650. First this TV had a picture twice as sharp as the Sony Bravia XBR and as far as the Samsung LED, I could absolutely not tell the difference. As far as the LN46B650, I got this one cheaper than that model below due to an Amazon $300 off coupon! Anyway, best TV I have ever seen, ever!
J. R. Cheal rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Excellent LCD-Top rated - I spend my professional time doing video production, and I spent over 35 yrs. as a Professional photographer, so I know a little about quality images, and this is like going from an old Polaroid to a Kodachrome slide !!
Having watched everyone else's HD home units, I decided it was time to make the move myself, and WOW ! This provides a super sharp HD image, and I spent over 4 months looking at all that was within my budget in HD LCD's, and this Sammy does it all in spades. I no longer have to visit friends homes to see great HD and BluRay videos, as I can watch them at my home now. Price was just right, and free shipping was a big bonus too! Got it when Amazon had a $300 discount coupon going until the 15th, and I couldn't be happier! Great TV, great service, and what's not to like about this Samsung? Just make the move and buy one, you will not regret this one !!
R. Ferrer rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung ln46B750...BEST LCD TV OUT THERE - I received this bad boy yesterday when delivery was scheduled on friday the 22nd. Amazon and Ceva provide great service together! When it arrived at my door, the shippers unboxed the TV and set it up to test out if anything was wrong with the TV...it was perfect. I've hooked up my ps3 and games look absolutely amazing. Blue-ray DVDs even better! I also watched the lakers-nuggets game yesterday and the picture quality was so much better compared to my old sharp aquos I had before (probably because it was a 60hz tv). Don't be afraid to unload your money for this TV, it is absolutely worth the price.
Douglas Fitzpatrick rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung LN46B750 Review - I am simply "speechless" regarding the Picture Quality with just a few adjustments out of the box!! This Samsung set is simply gorgeous with it's glossy wet black piano like finish, not to mention how good it looks even when turned off! This set has many real world usable features in store for you, plus a ton of options for customizing the picture to suit your preferences.

You can also tailor the way your set handles the AMP or Auto Motion Plus 240Hz, from ultra smooth while watching sports with 0 motion blurr to a more realistic film like smoothness. This is the first LCD HDTV that I have seen to actually have whiter whites and blacker blacks, until now only plasmas were capable of dark jet blacks and whiter whites!

This Samsung LCD HDTV is more like a computer, instead of a paper manual it comes with a USB 2.0 flash drive (E-Manual) where you just plug it in and you can just scan the manual on your beautiful 46" inch screen. You can also update the firmware version at anytime in the future for added features, bug fixes and maybe even hardware compatibility issues.

The sound I thought was pretty good for a flat panel, the remote is the icing on the cake. The remote is 100% backlit and has a nice glossy finish that fits well in hand. I did a lot of research on just about every HDTV on the market for a whole month and this set has the better picture quality of all the others out there, if you buy this set you won't be disapointed one bit!

Samsung has come a long way in just a short amount of time, there products a hard to beat cost and performance wise! I bought this set from Amazon on Friday and was delivered the following Wednesday, I don't know how Amazon managed that one quick shipment! A big thanks to the shipping company Pilot for their excellent friendly and help for getting it all set-up for me, the whole experience was joyful!

Jarod D. Makowski rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - 2 thumbs up! - I know a lot of you are looking at a lot of hdtvs. Let me tell I looked at all the t.vs in best buy to see how they look. I saw the ln46b650 as it stood out from the rest with clarity. So i decided to take a gamble and pre order this one. I even owned a pn50a760 plasma and sent it back because it had poor clearity. This t.v has an extra setting for the upscaling which makes it ajust depending on the movie dimensions for normal dvds.
PROs for this t.v: Clearest picture i've seen so far for LCD. No artifacts on 240hz settings but everything looks like a soap opera because its going as fast as the acting is happening, so bad acting looks even worse lol. On that note though dont worry if oyu dont like that 240hz going you can turn it off. The colors are bright and stunning. For you video game addicts. I have a ps3 and a xbox360 hooked up to it and let me tell you the game looks crisp and has no lag whats so ever.
Cons:The internet capabilities and media stuff arent exciting. Only thing its good for is maybe knowing the weather and uploading pictures on the tv when having family events. When people speak in games or movies at low volumes you can hardly hear them other then that it sound pretty decent at higher volumes. The blacks are probally the best you can get for lcd except True LED which isnt out yet, but its still not as black as plasmas can get. Only other thing is its viewing angles, its best to sit at a centerish seat.

THe cons are very very minor overall this t.v I will recommend to anyone looking for something great in all area's for the price. Regular Dvds look nice a sharp and blue rays look even better. Even my girlfriend that knows nothing about t.vs says WOW thats a lot better then the other one we sent back. YOu could also see the jealousy in my friends eyes.
I hope my technical comments help you decide if this is the t.v for you.
Magellan rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Unbelievable - I purchased this TV with a Panasonic DMP-BD60 player. The picture quality is unbelievable. I purchased it instead of a plasma TV like the Panasonic TC-P50G10 due to inherent issues with plasma technology. Although plasma TVs offer outstanding quality and larger screen size for the same price, they have altitude issues above 5500ft and are delicate to transport. For my needs, this Samsung TV offers the best all around quality, robustness, and value. Coupled with the DMP-BD60 player, I also get the Viera functionality. I plan to get a Harmony remote to control the setup after purchasing a 7.1 receiver in the future.

This TV is totally awesome.
shadowed heart rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - First HDTV Exceeded my expectations - I did a lot of reading, a lot of almost made decisions and a lot of re-reading before I finally decided to pick this TV for my first HDTV. This actually turned out to be a really great time to take the plunge into HDTV Land because they have progressed passed 60Mhz and LED LCD TVs just came out which reduced the price of regular LCD TVs. I do not like being the early adopter of anything though I must admit the LED TVs were tempting. What made me decide to buy this TV despite reading some reviews that almost scared me into not buying was the following:

- The picture quality is not much different than the LED cousin and MUCH cheaper
- Black Rating of this 240Mhz model (LN46B650) is rated MUCH higher than the 120Mhz model (LN46B750)
- Dynamic Contrast ratio of the 240Mhz model is 150000:1 versus the 120Mhz's 100000:1
- 2ms response time - which is great for gaming
- Off Angle Viewing - I bought this TV to host UFC Fights and Football so I expect friends at non-optimal angles

((( Picture Quality ))) - It really is amazing. I did not think I'd see this level of quality increase in movies until I went all out and went to BluRay and the best cables. It is not just better detail in seeing all the details on people's faces, it provides a completely different feel to movies ...and I am only playing regular DVDs off my Xbox 360. Now I will say, first movie it almost had a Soap Opera feel, but when I dial in settings to go back to what I'm used to I actually end up missing the "Standard" mode which the TV comes delivered as. If you don't like the ultra-realistic feel that Standard mode provides the CNET review of the LN46B750 has decent settings that will get you closer to what you may be used to. That is another huge bonus I must say current TVs provide ...older TV settings almost seemed to make very little difference. But for those who like tinkering with stuff current TV settings provide real changes to achieve the effect you want. Standard satellite/cable TV is still standard viewing fare - minor improvement so if that's all you watch than its not worth going HDTV if your current TV is just fine.

For those who want something that works out of the box - factory settings are great.

Some say the off angle is horrid ...are these people serious? If you are worried about this, go to a store and view this for yourself as it is the only way to be sure if this will be a problem for you or not. I cannot knock the off angle viewing. I haven't seen many (if any) TV handle off angle viewing better than this TV. I can clearly see the picture with minimal grey effect even at a 20 percent angle ...which I don't understand why anyone would even want to sit at this angle anyway, but whatever...

((( Movies ))) - Awesome. See Picture Quality. I personally prefer the Standard setting even if it has that hyper realistic view. On my old Sony Trinitron, which I still think is a good TV ...other than its insane weight, movies looked no where near this good. For example on Transformers, when the Predator is taking battle field pictures they are kind of hard to discern and the transformers moved a little too quick to really see what they look like. On this Samsung, those battle field pictures were clear as all get out and I could see each piece of metal that moved on the robots. Seeing those A-10s and that AC-130H in HD glory was Beautimus!

The second movie I had to try was Equilibrium because it WILL weed a TV out on the black scale rating. We are talking about dark scenes with people in jet black fine Italian cotton against charcoal grey fine texture walls and limited gradient lighting. And the TV handled all of that beautifully! Blacks were black, details were crisp, heck whites were WHITE. I could even see exactly the clothing everyone was wearing on the scene where the ONLY lighting was the gun flash. On many TVs a lot of the scenes look more like your 7yr faded black T-Shirt. On the Samsung it looks like the day you bought it. According to review sites the LN46B750 (240Mhz) has a much better black scale rating than the LN46B650 (120Mhz) model, and I honestly would pay an extra $200 just for this alone. Thankfully the 240Mhz model also has a better dynamic contrast ratio than the 120Mhz model , which just seals the deal. I don't even care about the 240Mhz bonus because the difference is minimal - it is the black rating and the contrast ratio I care about.

((( Gaming ))) - Awesome. Some people mention there is a latency/lag issue ...I can't help but wonder if they just have a lemon set or if they are dealing with internet lag or something because I honestly don't see it. Gaming is my primary hobby, especially internet gaming and I honestly do _NOT_ see any display latency issues what so ever. I wish PCs were this responsive ...seriously. As soon as I unpacked the TV, my friend's kid (teenager) and I played Mortal Kombat vs DC (trust me... any latency issues would have been caught in this game alone), Bioshock, Soul Caliber 3, Burnout: Paradise, Gears of War 2 and Overlord 2. Latency/lag didn't even enter our thoughts.

ZERO latency issues - uppercuts in MKvsDC were spot on _instant_. Zero flickering. Zero ghosting. Zero shearing. Everything was spot on. Again, I wish my PC monitor was this responsive ...but again my PC is dealing with network traffic. So it makes me think the latency people are seeing is when they are playing online and network traffic is the villain, because it sure isn't the TV's fault.

((( Sound ))) - Yeah it deserves criticism. You can still watch TV and movies like you would expect - but default settings SUCK. Play around with the equalizer because the default settings are definitely not optimal. After you optimize it, it really isn't too bad. You may have to beef up the volume a little more than you are used to, but I definitely had to play with the sound. Because this TV gives you the equalizer to adjust settings, I'll keep the review rating of this TV at 5 Stars ...well that and the TV really exceeded my high expectations by a lot.

((( MISC ))) - The menu system does look slick - it is modern looking, functional (love the explanation of each option ) and I like the transparency so you can still see what is showing. Some complain about menu responsiveness. I had to hit the buttons a couple times as well until I started pointing the remote directly at the TV - now that I know I have to aim right at the TV, no issue. It's not "instant" but it's nothing I'd complain about. Now Windows is dog slow. My biggest complaint about the menu system is with as many settings that you can change, it would be REALLY nice if you could save custom profiles so you could easily switch between them.

The remote is dorky. Seriously, who designed this waste of plastic? Does it really need this extra appendage of plastic? The remote works and is intuitive. I normally have to hunt down key functional buttons on my remotes even after owning them awhile ...so far no complaints on button layout. Though what is usually labeled as "Input" is labeled as "Source" - just fyi. Love this TV. For those who care about decor - the TV is slim and sleek.
D. Kowal rated the LN46B750 as 5/5 and says - Samsung - LN46B750 - Buyer Review - I spent about 6 months reviewing LCD TV's and narrowed my search down to the Samsung and the Sony XBR. I opted for the Samsung because it was a "little" bit more bearable on costs and the few bucks saved bought me some other tech goodies that I am using in concert with my new Samsung LCD. The XBR isn't bad though. I just went with my gut after my research. On with the review:

One of the best, and I do mean best, reviews that I've ever read was from practical-home-theater-guide dot com. Just an awesome job of a non-biased, objective approach on this unit. Really helped my decision process too.

The Samsung LN46B750 gives you a lot to like, many great features, a wonderful picture that anyone would consider truly amazing. 240hz is the latest 'buzz' word for marketing purposes. You can't see "that much" of a difference with the naked eye versus the 120hz. You can see a huge difference versus the 60hz. The LN46B750 gives you vast controls, unlike many other before. Controls for altering the picture tremendously, as you see fit, or necessary. The TV takes some time to get used to if you're NOT tech savvy, because there are just many new words or features that probably most people don't really get into all that much. But, they are features nonetheless and they do help the user control the picture appearance.

The LN46B750 provides yahoo widgets which I thought was really neat. These are programmable to the users likings, you pick which widgets you want, I like the weather, sports, news, stocks, etc. Comes in handy when I'm glued to my couch. NOTE: When connecting to the Internet, via an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable to your wireless router; you'll have to perhaps turn off the TV and let the connection reintialize to get it to synch. I also definitely prefer the "wired" versus "wireless" approach for using the DLNA and Internet@TV function.

Additionally, if you decide to hook up an Internet ready box like ROKU, or a Blu Ray player, which I did, the wired approach vastly improves speeds. Wireless will only get you so far. Like using your laptop wireless-ly. That's fine, but with live streaming video from Amazon or NetFlix, you'll wish you had a wired connection. No pauses, no gaps, no slow speeds, etc, you get the idea.

Having my TV talk to the Internet is way cool. Just seems like it should've already been there in this modern day and age. With technology ever changing, it only makes sense to me. Kudo's on bleeding edge, emerging technologies.

The LN46B750 connects to your home PC, as if your PC was acting like a server. Basically once you connect the PC SHare software, the LN46B750 can retrieve any folder that you've elected to share. Music, Video files, Images, pictures, the whole lot. How cool is that?

With Home Networking, this TV will also receive text messages and incoming phone calls from your cell phone (only on SELECTED MODELS). That's pretty neat too, eh?

Image quality - superb. I think it looks just as good as the LED and can't see spending the extra bucks on an LED with 240hz, because you're talking a substantial increase. All for what? Can't see it.

Now having said that, I believe it's the B650 model which gives you pretty much the same exact features minus the 240hz , which is something to consider as well.

Roku is really nice on this. I enjoyed the ability to stream from netflix and/or Amazon. With great image quality too. Surprising, coming over a public network (internet).

Deep blacks, what does that mean? Means that the blacks are blacks and not "off-black". Very accurate natural looking colors, good shadow detail, excellent connectivity options, HDMI, DLNA support, USB 2.0, Anynet, Internet@TV, Yahoo Widgets, 240hz refresh, "ultra-clear panel" screen which truly helped on glare reduction IMHO, makes the Samsung LN46B750 a great purchase for the buyer who wants a top quality product.

Delivery was smooth, as anticipated, no problems there.

All-in-all, if you're willing to spend about $300 bucks extra for 240hz auto-motion plus, then it's a great buy. The image you'll get in your own living room will truly amaze you. Kinda akin to seeing it in the store, but just completely way way better. The stand does swivel on this model. ToC is faint but cool. I prefer it over the red, just my opinion. Red is fine too though. Samsungs only flaw, which I can't really fault them for, is the sound. The LN46B750 is was not designed to be an AWESOME TV annnnndddd and AWESOME SURROUND SYSTEM. If you're going to purchase a top quality, state of the art LCD TV, then fork out the extra bucks if you can do it and go get you a 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. Or even a panel bar system, something of the sort. This will truly bring your TV alive and you will only then, get the true experience of a home theater system. Having this TV w/o a surround system is like buying a great looking 57 Chevy, fully re-conditioned, with a 4 banger in it. Please. Do yourself justice and get the surround system to go with it!

I would highly recommend the LN46B750 to anyone. I've owned the TV for 1 day and have almost fully mastered it. If I can help or assist anyone with the unit, please feel free to email me at anytime.

Thanks,
dak970@yahoo

S. Valeria Dombiak-woelfel rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - great image and cool features but also some issues - This is my first hd and I like it a lot but it took some time to get it right and Samsung customer service while friendly and polite is not very knowledgable.
First the positives:
1. the image is beautiful (some people complain of reflective screen and this is true but it does not affect picture at all).
2.The sound is not bad at all (after reading some reviews complaining of the sound I was worried I'd have to use my home theater always but if it is not turned on I think the sound is quite decent).
3. I have an ethernet cable so I connected it to my network and now I can see all my videos, pictures on my pc on the tv without problem.
4. I also used a flash usb to see movies on the tv and the image was decent (not hd probably because of source recording)but I am not sure why the sound was off by a sec (the mouth moves and the sound does not match... maybe a more tech person can tell you what that is...).

Now my issues:
1. My tv kept on having tiling and audio loss. Always when watching Comcast premium channels in Hd and a lot more noticable at night. Called Samsung and they just told me it is comcast it happens all the time... after 6 times of having comcast come and change everything (box, wires, wires to my house, etc)the issue seems to finally have been resolved though it is too soon to tell.
2. Preloaded content: it is sooooo lame!!! Kids stories too simple graphics and too few options. Fitness has only serene sounds??? Cooking has recipes not interactive. Only 1 game! also I tried to download additional content and it says my tv is already full.... I asume there must be a way of using a usb stick... but it is not in the manual....
3. Internet tv (yahoo widgets): are easy to work but there is way too few options available. Also the widgets offered do not match the manual. (for eg. there is supposed to be netflix, showtime... I can't find them yet and Samsung is not helpful).
4. The manual is really hard is not thorough. First I hate the usb stick as you cannot skip to the page you need so i had to download a pdf version. Even with that stuff like internet tv and pre loaded content is not clear.
5. Samsung customer service is not the most knoledgable which worries me. Let me give you an example of one of one of my many conversations while setting up. I am trying to hook up the optical audio output so I see there is a little movable cover;I called to see what to do with it and the agent after 3 minutes of research tells me well just take it out, so I say it does not come out, are you sure I has to come out? she says after 5 more minutes on hold just take it out with a screwdriver.... I hang up still uneasy to do that and try to just push the optical audio in using the wire and see the cover just turns in by itself without coming out....imagine if I used the screwdriver!!
6. 240hz: I assumed before buying it that I'd use it in fast movies, games, etc. Well, Comcast hd box is in 60hrz. so all my movies on demand, premium channels, games, etc are on 60 hz. I have not been able to use 240 at all since i have no blue ray.... wish i knew this before shelling extra money if the feature is not available....
7. Sounds that comes out of tv is stereo! This is even when you use the optical output!!!! So if you want to have 5.1, 7.1, you have to connect each device straight to hometheater bypassing the tv which is not always feasible.
Hope it helps!!!
R. Stofko rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - Great deal, quick delivery and arrived in perfect condition - We've been waiting for some time to replace our current TV with more up-to-date technology and were thrilled to death to see the offer come through email for the deals on Amazon for big screen TVs - Samsung in particular. We researched the competition and couldn't find a better deal. Saved a bundle and got free shipping as a Prime customer. We received another $200 off just for showing interest in the items during our research. Reading the reviews written by others that purchased the same or similar unit was a tremendous help in making our decision. We were surprised how quickly it shipped and the carrier was able to bring it a day earlier than expected. They even brought the shipment right into our home. We were somewhat leary about the amount of reflection we would experience as reported by others but it has not been annoying at all. The 46-inch screen is a perfect fit for our room. Looking forward to many pleasant hours of TV enjoyment. We're holding off on a 5-star rating until we get our HD cable connection. Will update the rating once we've had the full experience. We will definitely talk up this experience among family and friends and recommend Amazon again.
D. L. Keen rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - Samsung LN46B750 - 46" TV 1080p 240 Hz LCD - I would have given this tv a 5 star rating but I haven't owned it long enough. This is my first LCD tv and it has lived up to it's ratings. I can't find anything wrong with it at this point.
Peter Ly rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - Good TV with Some Overlookable Issues - This is the first TV I've ever purchased and it's a great buy. I was hoping to read some professional reviews before I bought this, but with the Amazon $300 coupon being a limited time offer and my 6x points (basically a 6% cash back) on my Amazon card ending at the end of this month, I had to take advantage of this opportunity now. I think I made a good choice. Up until I got this TV, I've been using a Dell 24" 2405FPW LCD monitor (really a Samsung screen that still gets more positive reviews than new cheaper 24" Dell LCD monitors).

I don't want/need to repeat most of the positive comments other reviewers have already mentioned, so I'll talk about topics not well covered.

240 Hz Auto Motion Plus: The default setting is "standard." I don't have regular TV, so I connected my PS3 and popped in my Iron Man Blu-Ray disc. I quickly noticed the high quality resolution of my HDTV, but after some moments, I realize how the movie had a TV soap opera look and how some things just didn't seem right. The lighting was more sterile and bright instead of dramatic and when there was a scene where the camera moved, it felt like I was watching a 4:3 formatted pan & scan movie instead of a modern wide-screen movie. After checking out the TV settings (not having a paper manual was a little annoying, but quite a bit of paper was saved, since the PDF version is about 290 pages due to the multi-language versions), I realize that it's the 240Hz AMP that was making my movie experience more TV-like. I tried all the different preset AMP settings (i.e., Off; Clear; Standard; Smooth; Demo, which shows AMP off next to AMP on at the same time), I came to find that I like the "Clear" setting, which is the minimum setting with 240Hz on, the most. The lighting then looked like what I remember from the theater and the scenes still seem smooth and clear. AMP not only gives the appearance of more frames/second, but also more clarity. You'll notice a big difference when you take the time to watch the same scene over and over again with different settings. My guess is that it will probably work best with TV shows that have fast moving scenes and bright lighting like sports programs.

Computer Files: This feature is so cool. Video files which were originally computer-only can now be watched on my TV without any additional hardware. I think this TV can play more versions of MPEG and DIVX than my PS3 can (it says it in the Samsung manual, but I didn't do a side-by-side comparison). I can take an AVI file from my computer, copy it to a USB compact flash disk, then plug it into my HDTV and watch it in the full 46" glory. The remote offers some simple fast forward and rewind capability (the longer you hold down the buttons, the greater it moves forward and backward, respectively) and rewinding doesn't jump as smoothly as forwarding, but it's bearable.

Ethernet Connection: My FiOS modem/router is in my bedroom and my HDTV is in the living room. I couldn't test it, but considering that the wireless module for the Samsung TV is $80, I think I'm going to relocate my router. I wonder if there's a cheaper workaround or if the Samsung USB WiFi module is proprietary.

Remote Control: It is a long controller which makes it a little uncomfortable to use without sliding your hand to reach some buttons and it has an unconventional wing at the bottom of the controller that's there for weight balance. It also feels fragile because it looks shiny and lightweight. More negatives is that the buttons require me to either push them down at a different angle or just with more force. I hope that once I use the controller a little more, the buttons will be more sensitive. Right now, some of the buttons take me two or three times before they register because I am apparently not doing it right.

Delivery Service: I got the usual call about setting up my delivery date and time. They gave me a 4 hour delivery window and the 2 guys came around the end of the first hour, so it wasn't a long wait. There was something on the form I signed about a blue screen test, but they didn't test that for me (maybe it works only with TV reception?) and I didn't see it when I skimmed through the manual either. Basically, they physically set it up, turned it on, and tested some menu options. Not a very scientific test, but I guess they completed their tasks. They didn't stick around to get tipped either. I did stop them to hand them one though.

Ultra Clear Panel: I don't know why the Samsung.com website says that it doesn't have an UCP when it obviously does. The reflection is quite strong and I have very good daylighting in my living room from the windows, so the reflection can be annoying. However, the good viewing angle comes in handy, so I just sit at an angle from the screen (probably 20 degrees), and the reflection from my window goes away. I don't notice any drop in contrast or color quality, so it's not that big of a deal. Also, if you compare this to some of the reflection problems from older CRTs, it seems about the same. The big difference is that there may appear to be more reflection problems b/c this screen is just a lot bigger than most CRTs.

Overall, I am happy with my HDTV. I was very tempted to buy the 52" version, but with the 30% premium over the 46" (currently, the 52" costs 21% more with the most recent limited-time coupon), I rather save the money for when I get a bigger apartment and when 60+" screens are in the best value range.
Maine Train rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - wonderful tv, just don't spread out too much - Bought this baby this week and it's worked very well right out of the box. They must have tuned up the colorization lately, because we aren't tempted to adjust the factory settings, so far.

Motion is superb, no hazy transitions on fast moving stuff, we bought it for the 240hz refresh and it delivers as promised.

Looks good for being such a hunk o electronics, and love the swivel feature, which brings me to my one cautionary note: these things do not look as sharp and contrasty when you view them from a radius outside center of about 10-15 degrees on either side (that's about 20-30 degrees total). But that's an LCD issue for all of them, and we like the rest of the package so much that we're happy we got the 240hz Sammy instead of a plasma or 60 or 120hz LCD. Oh yeah, and that pedestal was a pain to get properly screwed into the panel.

Nice job overall, Samsung!

UPDATE

Light curtain in upper left hand of a black screen proved annoying, so exchanged it. There are now gradually brighter, but uniform sidelight areas on the replacement. Proves that these things are neither uniform nor faultless, so better to buy local for easier exchange.

Still the best LCD we could find.
John Grey rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - Great TV, bad quality control from Samsung - Let me say that this TV is one of the best in the market for the price point. The pros are too many to list and so far has been a great choice as far as features and performance. I'm an early adapter for HDTV in 03 going from a Zenith C32V37 RP CRT (4:3); which unfortunately is getting replaced due to a humming power supply. The B750 can match the black levels of the RP CRT and has no clouding or flashlighting that I was seeing on the A750/A850 sets, which my wife and I almost decided to get. With Amazon's pricepoints coming very close to the discounted price of the previous generation Samsung sets it was a no brainer.

Now onto the Cons, I would have given this B750 5 stars if not for the crappy Samsung Quality Control. I received my TV out-of-the-box with a remote that had 5 dead/non-working buttons= mute, up arrow, play, red options button and "1". Also, after 2 days of setting up the TV and getting all our inputs connected using almost all of them (analog & digital); yes even both USB ports, the HDMI inputs 1-3 stopped working properly. Now, those inputs will only take the signal from the HDMI 4. EG: If I select HDMI 1-3 and have a source such as Bluray running on the HDMI 4 (side-port) it will display that source signal. Talk about disappointing QC. After a few calls to Amazon and Samsung; I will be getting a new remote and have Samsung's local service technician out to fix the HDMI input problem. I can't believe these QC issues out-of-the-box are occuring for such as middle-tier to higher end line of prodcut; very poor testing on Samsung's part.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance of the B750 but very disappointed with their QC process which can be greatly improved. In my 20-30+ years of owning electronic equipment I have never encountered these types of QC problems out-of-the box with any products.
The Analyst rated the LN46B750 as 4/5 and says - Good performance, okay looks - Up-conversion of standard definition signal is good, much better than a Toshiba LCD.
Picked this over a Sony KDL-46Z5100 because the Sony's border is narrow on the sides and top, nice, but the bottom is too wide compared to the sides and top. The Samsung looked more consistent, unfortunately the material used for its border is not too good. It doesn't look completely flat. The surface of the Samsung TV's border looks wavy.

P. Radhakrishnan rated the LN46B750 as 3/5 and says - Great picture, but a few glaring issues made me decide to return it - If you are seriously consider purchasing this tv, please read this review completely. This is a bit critical in nature, but I hope to provide a balanced review based on my experience with this unit. Depending on what you are looking for, this set may or may not work out well for you.

Just for background context, I mainly watch HD content hooked up via hdmi on my PS3. This includes bluray movies, hd content and some gaming. Regular tv and sd viewing were not as much of a concern to me. I own a 3 year old 26 inch sony lcd, and have also more recently owned a vizio 42 inch xvt, and samsung's latest 40 inch b550, which is the non 120 or 240hz model of their current lineup, and most recently the 50 inch Panasonic G10, which I purchased after returning this B750 that I am reviewing. I may refer to some of these in the review.

As you will read there are a few major issues I found that made me return. If you feel these wont be a problem for you, this model should work great for you. After all if you are going to pay a little under $1,700 for a tv, one should be completely satisfied with it.

Design

This tv looks beautiful, understated, elegant and simple. It has a very slight touch of gray at the bottom that you can barely notice, and it should complement pretty much any decor in your home. The unit is quite thin at around 3 inches, and I was able to lift and set up the tv myself. Cheaply made screws, almost as bad as ikea used to setup the stand were a bit of a pain to put in and remove when I decided to return the unit. After a correct assembly, the tv still sort of wobbles around and generally doesn't feel like it is solid on the stand, though it shouldn't pose any problems. I noticed the same thing on the Samsung B550 by the way. The swivel design works smoothly and easily, and though I didn't use it at all, I could see how it would come in handy.

Picture Quality and Viewing Experience

The picture quality in general on this unit is gorgeous. Nicely saturated colors and comfortably deep blacks for an lcd. I tested several blurays and they all looked excellent. You will definitely need to dial back the setting to get a more realistic picture, as much of the regular setting have over-cranked saturation, brightness and contrast to impress in stores like best buy. Overall, I can say even the most discerning movie goers and enthusiasts will find it hard to really put down the picture quality itself, though there are definitely better sets out there for the money. The picture was definitely an improvement over the cheaper Samsung B550, but wasn't drastically better. i think much of the sense of better picture over the b550 was the glossy screen and better motion processing. It supposedly has a better/newer panel (10-bit vs 8-bit) over the b550 and other cheaper model lcd's. I guess the difference between very good and very very good is a subtle one.

You are given a bevy of picture tweaking options to adjust the picture to your particular room and your eyes. If you are like me, you will fiddle at least a little bit with these, and will switch between settings depending on what you are watching.

The 240hz processing to my eye, and many other reviewers will not provide any visible difference from 120hz. But the manner in which it is implemented is really nice. You can adjust judder and blur separately to get the picture to the way you like it. I felt this worked well, and really helped in the overalls smoothness and motion intense scenes. I had blur at 10 and judder between 3 and 6 depending on what I was watching.

However, this was all marred by a few issues, the worst of which was auto dimming. I had read about this on the led side lit samsungs 6 & 7000 series (which you can also find at your local best buy and amazon as well), but did not know this was included with the b750. Gizmodo did a feature on this for the b7000 with the phrase "avoid!" in the title. Basically, anytime the scene gets dark, the tv will sense that and automatically drop or dim the backlight dramatically to get deeper blacks. The problem is that is happens usually a split second after the scene has already started and it is extremely distracting. It also darkens many bright spots in the picture somewhat, like city lights over a dark sky, or stars in a dark sky. This is very noticeable for example on the Dark Knight bluray. The more I watched, the more annoying it got. The fact that the lcd already does a good job of getting very black without the dimming is what makes it really unnecessary. It also does this while flipping channels on tv, and pretty much anything you watch. There is no way for the consumer to switch this off, as far as I know. I tried everything in the menu, from dynamic contrast to eco mode etc. There might be a more techie way, but I am pretty well versed in tech, and was not able to turn off this distracting feature. It is possible the autodimming wont bother you, but if it sounds like it might, please take note. This was a bit hard to swallow for me, because almost none of the reviews mentioned this on the b750, including cnet. This also may be solved by a future firmware update from samsung, but don't hold your breath for it.

The next issue was what appeared to be slight "clouding" or patches of grey-whitish color on the panel. I didn't notice at first, but once a few black screens or dark scenes came on, it was both noticeable and distracting. This could be just my specific unit, or a defect. I had read that the b750 was very good in this respect and had a uniform screen, but the whitish patches became very noticeable, and in dark scenes, it looks like there were subtle hints of cloudy patches on top of the screen. I have read that this is a common issue with many lcd's, so it depends on what you end up with. But you do run the risk of this problem with the b750 or maybe any lcd. Still, my old sony, and the samsung b550 never had this problem, so it was a little disappointing.

Another issue was a thin flickering white/silver line that would flicker on top of the screen right under the bezel during many dark scenes. It was not too noticeable, but enough to become a slight nuisance. This was really obvious on dark knight, and also the Planet Earth bluray during the immersive underwater scenes.

I know the issues of glare on lcd's has been addressed ad nauseam, but I just thought I should chime in. The screen is pitch black and VERY reflective, to the point of acting like a mirror. I have a room that gets ambient, not direct, sunlight and it was quite distracting during the day. It is rather difficult to see, so you need to crank up the brightness, which helps a bit. The display definitely gets as bright as you need. In the evening, with very dim lighting, it is still possible to see yourself reflected in the tv when it goes black in between scenes. The Samsung B550 (a cheaper tv), has a sort of matte-glossy hybrid display that I thought worked much better when compared to this one. But, the glossy display is partly responsible for the richer color and deeper blacks you get on this unit. Always tradeoffs. If you are ok with glossy screens on tv's, you will be ok with this one too. P.S. best buy is not a good place to figure out if you are ok with glossy screens. They don't look the same at home.

Off angle viewing on this unit is just not very good. The moment you move even a little bit away from the sweet spot of the couch right in the center, the blacks start to wash out, and the whole picture starts to look different. Not necessarily terrible, but different. The cheaper B550 had much more consistent viewing angle experience for some reason, I'm not sure why. Basically, if you have 3 or 4 people over for a movie, some will probably be seeing a slightly different picture.

Gaming

Reading several reviews of the b750, some said gaming was too laggy (ie: when you press a button it doesn't register right away) on the it, some said it was fine, so I had to give it a shot. I felt it was far too much lag to play games well. In other words, you will die or miss more often. You wont know why, you just will. The lag is on a millisecond level, but much of the twitch response in gaming is that way. Your eyes wont really notice that it is lagging, but it is definitely there, and significantly I might add. The "Game" mode does a little to remedy this, but it is still not perfect and the picture a bit harsh in game mode, since you can't adjust any picture settings. If you are a very casual gamer and are playing games that don't really require good timing, then the lag wont really bother you. For me, I can't really recommend it for gaming. For reference, I was playing games like Resistance 2, Little big planet, Street Fighter 2 hd remix, guitar hero etc for testing. The lag is much better, almost nonexistent on the Panasonic G10, which is a plasma. For lcd, I believe the Samsung B750 gives average or maybe below average performance. Strangely, the Samsung B550 for comparison was a little better in my experience and so was my old sony lcd.

User Experience, Menus and extra features

Going with the theme of lag, I have to say Samsung's menus are extremely slow to respond and laggy. They look ok I suppose, with a blue graphical touch. All menu navigation has extra animations and movements that make them less responsive (reminds me of a Samsung cell phone I used to own). Compared to other tv's I have used, Samsung menus tend to cover more of the screen, which I feel is also a bit of a minus when you are making adjustments based on what you are watching.

If you are the type to change picture modes often (like movie, vivid, standard etc) depending on what you are watching, you may be a tad annoyed to learn that Samsung removed the picture mode toggle button from the remote, which they have on the cheaper b550, so you have to dig into a submenu just to change the picture mode. The remote is pretty easy to use, but I feel it is not naturally intuitive compared to some other brands, but this may just be personal preference. For example, the context of the tools and menu button seem to change and give you different options depending on what you are doing, and not necessarily in a logical manner.

The picture mode button was replaced with a "content" button that takes you to Samsung's "content" if you can call it that, in one press. Samsung's content, is really inane and pretty useless. It's actually kind of funny. It has recipes, nature sounds, and some random children's songs. They are all very slow to load and extremely average to poor in quality. You might take a look at it once or twice just to see what it is, but I wouldn't imagine that anyone would use the features frequently.

The internet widgets by Yahoo! widgets I would say are pretty close to unusable. I don't factor this much into the review or my decision to return the unit, because I didn't buy the tv for these features. I used to use Yahoo widgets some years ago on a windows computer, and the were pretty good, so I think it is just a poor implementation. In keeping with the menus, the widgets are extremely slow and unresponsive and feels like a very slow computer using a dial up connection, when you are actually using an expensive new piece of equipment with a broadband connection. For the record you get weather, stocks, flickr etc. No youtube, but it may come soon. For comparison, the Panasonic G10 has a few internet features that are very responsive and easy to use like youtube, weather, stocks, and picasa. All of this could also be improved with a firmware update from samsung.

Content can be played on the tv via plugging in a hard drive or usb stick to the usb port on the side of the tv. This feature was my favorite and has been implemented extremely well. It plays nearly any filetype, including the commonly used but rarely supported mkv format. The picture quality is good, very smooth and best of all it supports subtitles! The subtitle has really nice looking text and you can adjust the size and the sync time of the subtitles. This usb feature really surpassed my expectations and it was really tough to let this one go when I returned the unit. People who download alot of video, especially mkv could potentially buy the B750 just for this feature, its that good. Of course all the picture issues I mentioned before still stand though.

I did not try the dlna networking features, because they didn't support mac out of the box, and I didn't have a real interest to try it at the time.

Overall, I would say many things about this tv live up to the positive reviews. Beautiful picture quality and design really shine. But unfortunately I just couldn't live with the the issues that I noticed

- extremely distracting auto dimming feature that can't be turned off in the unit i received (trust me, i tried every option in the menus!)
- whitish, cloudy patches that are apparent during dark scenes
- significant gaming lag making most action-oriented games difficult to play

These three were my main issues for returning the unit, the many other things I highlighted just added to my decision though they were not deal breakers (or deal makers for that matter). I feel that if you can live with the issues I highlight you will really like the tv as the picture quality really is excellent. As a side note, I jumped into the plasma world with the Panasonic G10. While it's not perfect, I feel it worked out much better for me than this particular Samsung and am very happy with it. If you are in the market of this tv, I highly recommend checking out everything that is out there.

Amazon was easy to deal with. The unit arrived on Friday after ordering it Monday morning via Pilot shipping. The Pilot folks did not help me setup the tv as other reviews mentioned. They were in a real hurry to leave the moment they dropped off the tv, but no big deal for me -- could be for folks that need more help. When we decided to return, Amazon was cooperative and helped us with the procedure and is already processing the refund. Someone is supposed to come pick up the tv in a day or two. This was my first time ordering such a high ticket item from Amazon, and though it didn't work out for me this time, I think it is pretty safe to do so.

I gave it 3 stars because the actual picture quality was very good some of the issues could potentially be fixed with a firmware update.

Good luck! I hope this helps you make a decision on this tv. If I had read a review like this, it might have saved me some time. But ultimately you have to see for yourself.
Michael Rybikowsky rated the LN46B750 as 3/5 and says - mac need not apply - amazon as usual was great.unit delivered and set up.should be more then just one person doing the dels.this unit is beautiful, and it works great except for one to me big problem.I searched reviews rateings everything I could find.nothing said that this unit was not mac friendly.the cd that came with the tv only worked with windows.I bought the paper manual, it did not mention anything that would help to work with the mac.I called samsung.nice people quick phone tech help. tech said no to using a lot of the web features with my mac.samsung should make sure to disclose this in their pamplets and web site.there are ove twenty million apple owners in the country, and their numbers are growing fast.maby if I were not an old man with little computer abilitys,I may have been able to fix some of this.I am going to knock a couple of stars from my rating due to the omission.miker
